  • What is a landscape design/building company and what are the advantages of choosing one?

Stone Oak Landscapes is a design/build company, meaning we have the ability to both design and install your landscape. We take responsibility for your project from start to finish in a convenient, efficient, and cost-effective manner. Whether you're looking for a hardscaping company or for softer, traditional landscaping elements, we do it all!

  • Do I need a landscape plan? What does one cost?

Landscaping is an extension of your home, which is why it should be planned as carefully as any other major investment. Great design does not just happen! It requires site evaluation, careful thought, and exchanging of ideas. Planning ahead saves you time and money and a professionally planned and prepared landscape will help you to avoid costly mistakes while keeping the project on time and within your budget. It also allows for installation in logical phases. Design fees are determined by the scope of the project and the conditions of your property. Invest wisely and you'll be able to enjoy the rewards while you live in your home, with the knowledge that you have increased your home's value if you ever plan to sell. Give us a call today to talk with our professional hardscaping company and get started designing the landscape of your dreams!

  • What should I budget for my landscaping project?

It's difficult to determine the exact investment for a landscaping project before its plan is completed. There are many variables involved, from the size of your lot to the number of plantings required, to elements of a hardscaping company that many people overlook. A rough rule of thumb is to invest a minimum of 15 to 25% of the value of your lot and home towards your landscaping. If your landscape includes hardscaping features, your budget may be higher. Many of our customers enjoy beautifully landscaped yards and exceed those percentages.

  • Can I phase in my landscape installation?

Of course! Many of our landscaping projects are completed in phases as your time and budget allow. We'll work with you to plan each phase of the job. Considering we pride ourselves in being not only a landscaping company but more specifically, a hardscaping company, we understand some components of this process take longer.

  • What size landscaping projects do you install?

At Stone Oak Landscapes, our focus is on service, quality, and value. We care about every project, no matter how big or how small. Our crew can take on small projects starting at $5,000 up to large-scale developments. The benefits of working with a reputable hardscaping company are shown in the variety of projects we can tackle.

  • Do you guarantee your work?

Yes! Our plant materials, hardscape company materials, and labor are all conditionally warranted with proper customer care.

  • Should I choose sod or seed for my lawn?

When choosing to sod or seed your lawn, you should take into account the weather in your area, as well as the attention you're willing to supply to the process. Sod can be installed anytime during the landscape season whereas establishing a seeded lawn takes at least 12 months to achieve, depending on the weather and care. Fall is the best time to install a seeded lawn, usually after August 15th through the end of September. Spring is the next best time, from the end of April through June 1st. To learn more about what is best for your lawn, give our hardscaping company a call today!

  • What about sprinkler and irrigation systems?

Irrigation or sprinkler systems should only be designed by an experienced, reputable hardscaping company such as Stone Oak Landscapes. An incorrectly installed system can do more harm than good. A lawn irrigation system is helpful for establishing your new lawn and should give you a green lawn all summer long. It will help protect your landscape during periods of drought too. This system must be designed and installed to prevent or minimize overspray onto your planting beds. Plants require much less water than lawns, and if your lawn system sprays water onto your plant beds, you will end up with unhealthy and/or dead plants. If you're considering an irrigation system for your planting beds, it must be designed, installed, and used with care. Separate zones will be required, based on the plant type, location, and site conditions. More plants are lost to overwater than not watering them enough. We recommend you don't put your beds on an automatic timer cycle, but instead, manually turn on the bed zones and monitor them as necessary. Once your lawn and plants are established, you'll need to adjust your watering schedule. Watering also needs to be adjusted seasonally. Contact us today so we can help determine which is right for you!
